In Borden Capalino's canvases and Dani Leventhal's videos, medium is used as a repository for disjunctive imagery. Capalino combs through online postings for images of objects on offer - at times supplementing compositions with original and rephotographed images. Levanthal's camera accompanies her through experiences that simultaneously reside in the register of the mundane and the extraordinary, the found and the arranged. Both artists emphasize the physicality of gathering and deploying images, pushing their material into difficult arrangements, in which scenes disrupt and interrupt adjacent ones. The results offer a non-linear experience of memory, where visceral connections give expression to the temporal life of images.
